A Leadership Update and What Comes Next

By Steve Samelson, MD, Board Chair, U.S. Orthopaedic Partners

There’s been an important leadership change at U.S. Orthopaedic Partners.

Recently, Dr. Steve Holtzclaw stepped down from his role as CEO. On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Steve for his leadership over the past two and a half years as we transitioned from rapid growth into a more disciplined, operationally focused MSO.

Looking ahead, the Board has appointed Graham Young and Allen Anderson as our new Co-Chief Executive Officers, and we are confident in their leadership and the path forward.

Graham has been with USOP since its earliest days and has played a central role in shaping the organization. Allen brings deep experience across both practice and platform operations, with a clear understanding of how this organization works at every level. Together, they represent continuity, alignment, and a shared commitment to building the MSO our physicians and practices expect and deserve.

We recognize that a co-CEO structure is not the most traditional approach. In this case, it reflects how Graham and Allen have worked together from the beginning—closely aligned, complementary in their strengths, and instrumental in building USOP into what it is today. The Board has full confidence in their partnership and in their ability to lead this organization forward.

Our direction remains the same. We believe USOP is well positioned to be the best orthopaedic MSO in the country, and we’re continuing to build toward that every day. I’m encouraged by the leadership in place and the focus we’re seeing across the organization.

We’re excited about what’s ahead and the impact these changes will have for our platform, and we look forward to sharing more in the coming months. In the meantime, we’ll stay focused on doing the work to build the MSO our physicians and practices deserve.

Dr. Steve Samelson is an orthopaedic surgeon with Southern Orthopaedic Surgeons, where he also serves as practice president. Over the past year, he has served as Board Chair and Physician Board Chair of USOP.
