On April 22, USOP celebrated a major milestone: with SportsMED Complete Orthopedic Care in Huntsville, AL officially live on ModMed, all 10 of our practices are now connected on a single EMR system. This achievement marks the culmination of a nearly two-year journey driven by teamwork, determination, and a shared vision for excellence—building a stronger, fully unified platform across every practice we serve.
Shared systems mean stronger operations, better insights, faster innovation, and the ability to scale—all while keeping physicians focused on delivering exceptional patient care.
Teamwork at Its Best
The success of this project was possible thanks to tremendous teamwork. Experts from across USOP traveled to Huntsville to support the SportsMED go-live, working hand-in-hand with the corporate team to deliver real-time instruction and support.
“It was incredible to see how many people came alongside our team to help,” said Blake Bentley, CEO of SportsMED. “We’re proud to be part of a platform where that kind of support is standard. It made a huge difference for our staff and providers as we made this important transition.”
A Platform Built on Trust and Collaboration
Bringing all practices together on a single system also reflects the trust and collaboration across our entire platform.
“This is a monumental step for USOP and for the future of independent orthopedic care,” said Steve Holtzclaw, MD, MBA, CEO of USOP. “I’m incredibly grateful to Randy White and the entire implementation team for their leadership and dedication, and to our CEOs, physicians, and practice staff whose support was critical to making this happen. This is what it looks like when we come together to build something truly exceptional.”
Looking Ahead
“Having all 10 groups fully integrated on ModMed is a major differentiator,” said Randy White, SVP of IT at USOP. “It creates operational consistency, speeds up innovation, and gives us unmatched access to real-time clinical and operational data. I’m proud of our team for pulling off something few MSOs have accomplished at this scale.”
This achievement puts USOP in an even stronger position for future growth, collaboration, and continued leadership in orthopedic practice management. Special thanks to the team members listed below, and to everyone who made this journey possible!
